T-Mobile G1

This is a Smartphone based on the consumer with an excellent Web browser and a strong link with the Google online services like Google Mail. The GPS receiver, it is correct version of Google Maps.

It has a touch screen, but it is largely dependent on the integrated QWERTY keyboard.

The G1 also has Wi-Fi and access to T-Mobile Hotspot network.

The good:
The T-Mobile G1 offers a full QWERTY keyboard, support for 3G, Wi-Fi, GPS and Bluetooth. The Google Android, the operating system offers good integration with Google applications and access to Amazon MP3 Store and YouTube. As more and more applications are available, the G1 is a powerful smartphone for all types of users.

The bad:
The G1 lacks a standard headphone jack and stereo Bluetooth is absent and support for Microsoft Exchange. There is a need for stylus, as the design of Smartphone keep unpleasant and difficult to use. The GPS tracking was disappointing, and the speaker was not the most important.

Soil Lineth Conclusion: Although we are not in love with the design and would like to have some additional features, the true beauty of the T-Mobile G1 Google Android, the platform as it has the potential, personal and effective smartphones. That said, it is not, so that now the G1 is best suited for early adopters and gadget Hounds, but as consumers and business users.

Specifications:
Operating System, provided: Android, RAM installed: 192 MB Processor: QUALCOMM 528 MHzMSM7201A

Design
T-Mobile G1 is an HTC product, and has the same look and feel of the company of other Pocket PC smartphones, such as T-Mobile Wing and the Sprint Mogul. Measuring 4.6 inches wide and 2.1 cm wide and 0.6 cm deep and weighing 5.6 ounces, the G1 is not the sleekest device, and we will not call them sexy. Instead, the words "interest" and "alien" to us. This is largely due to the lower part of the phone juts into a small angle. We have this HTC design decision, but to hear, as the time of the press. Probably for the phone speaker nearest the mouth, this is not a bad thing, but consistently on the ergonomic keyboard, which we later. In a battle of pure sees the iPhone win hands down.

Keyboard
In other words, the G1 has solid construction and soft-touch surface on the back with a nice rubber texture, making it easy to grasp and the phone in hand. There is also a good reason for G1: a full QWERTY keyboard. There are a number of users that have little to full touchscreen Smartphone, because the lack of a tactile keyboard, so the G1 is certainly an attractive option for customers.

Access on the keyboard, drag the screen on the right. The sliding mechanism is fairly interesting, it is not an upward movement from the picture is actually vibrate slightly to the left of the picture there. We were faced with this Quirk, we have no advantage or disadvantage, something to consider. The sliding motion was smooth, but after a few days of use, we began knarrenden his opinion, if we nudged the screen - not good. The keyboard itself is reminiscent of the T-Mobile Sidekick, as many observers, during the period. This is not necessarily a bad thing, because we like the Sidekick keyboard. The keys are somewhat small, but overall the keyboard feels great and there is enough space between keys, which we believe should not be too many problems. If we wish the buttons were a little more, because now they are aligned with the phone. The biggest problem is that the lower part of the G1, it is difficult for the phone when typing messages, since your right not available throughout the movement. Of course, affect the speed and accuracy of typing.

Touch Screen
If you open the worksheet phone, the screen automatically becomes the portrait orientation to landscape. In addition, but with an acceleration sensor, the screen does not change when you turn the phone body in the closed position. After T-Mobile, during testing, people prefer that the screen if the keyboard that can be, but we see the advantage of the automatic rotary screen, in some cases, such the display of images. This does not mean that this function will not be in the future and the future is about the applications that run with the orientation of the position of the phone, even if the screen.

The real message and measures 3.2 inches diagonally has a resolution of 320x480. Life and sharpness and, as the iPhone and Blackberry Storm, the capacitive touch screen, so that the contact of your fingers and not your fingernail or other objects like a pencil. The G1 provides haptic feedback, but only for certain activities and not to each touch. First, you feel a slight vibration, while a long press on an icon. Overall, we believe that it was good, but there were times when the G1 not our actions, so that a kind of confirmation would be great.

To access various functions within an application, you can always rely on a long and a window of options. It is contextual, so that the menus are always available for the program that allows you to quickly create lists with a fast film, or you can with the finger of a slow, precise sight. You can pan and move Web pages and other documents and drag with your finger on the screen. Unlike the iPhone, the G1, the touch screen is not multi-touch, you can zoom in and not simply with the fingers separately. Admittedly, we missed this feature, because they are Web pages and pictures easy, but it is not necessary. Performance: The Android G1 on a 528 MHz and 192 MB of RAM. It seems like a good introduction, because I have no complaints about performance at all. Everything that happens almost immediately.

I have no stability problems. I think the request may relate to me because I am with the G1, and not the whole device.

Battery Life:
The T-Mobile G1 is the life of the battery is the minimum I accept, without complaining. It is not big, just when I walk through the levying of a tax on a single day, if I regularly device. On the other hand, I have the camera on this site, because I was busy with other projects and left is whether my push e-mails coming in at the end of three days, yet 30% tax.

Camera - Very good
Perhaps the biggest surprise for us, with the T-Mobile G1 with the quality of camera phone. This is one of the best camera phone, never used, and produces images, even better than many of the objectives of brand name Sony Ericsson and Nokia phones. The colors are rich and vibrant, perhaps a little too saturated, but a nice effect. The autofocus is also considerably contributed to the information and has appeared in most images. We are usually very critical of mobile imaging, but T-Mobile G1 is the Real Deal, and it produces images of 3-megapixel sensor, we can feel worthy Call.

Hardware:
The material is a bit complex. The phone was supposedly in development for years, but we can not feel that this device is a little early, prime-time phase. Black very simple model that looks like a prototype in a few areas. Indeed, the four physical buttons on the end of the banana unity. The reader, of the house, back and end of performance. While the return of the keys is good, you often try to select and record everything. This is because the small size and the physical environment, as you wish. They are essentially similar cases, so it is very difficult to push one of them.

Software:
There is no real task manager. Of course, you hold the "Home" and an updated list of open programs and you can 3rd Party program that facilitates the execution of applications with shortcut keys, but sometimes you want something very close. In all fairness, the G1 Android has an especially beautiful and decent work in memory management, but we still have some "wait for the application to react or near" error when the phone by the pace. We are aware that what the beginning, and we have more hope in the platform itself, which we never had, but for something cooked so long, and part of the practice Sidekick king -Similarly, we can not understand why a lot of inconsistencies and missing features.
